Baldur’s Gate 3 is expected to be a big treat for the D&D fans. It’s been a while since a Dungeons & Dragons theme-inspired RPG was developed on such a massive scale. The time and resources Larian Studios had invested in Baldur’s Gate 3 only add up to the hype built around the title. But as we move closer to the release of the giant RPG, makers have made a surprising announcement. The forthcoming edition to the Baldur’s Gate series would not be available for a preload. 

The latest announcement by the developers might not just be the only bad news on the release of Baldur’s Gate 3. While the game’s release on Xbox still hangs in the dark, gamers might not be happy with the preload policy. Moreover, a title as big as 122GB, with no preload facility would certainly bug the series’ fans. Adding to the announcement, the devs provided a major update on the early access of the game. Unfortunately, even for the early access players, makers suggest a “fresh start.” 

Larian Studios’ Baldur’s Gate 3 revelation irks gamers

The action-adventure title is just around the corner. Amidst all the speculations running around the release timing and patterns, Larian Studios broke their radio silence on the same. Although fans wouldn’t have expected such an update considering the scale of the title. Addressing Baldur’s Gate 3 launch details they made major announcements on Steam Deck.

Baldur’s Gate 3 will launch on August 3rd at 5 pm Gent time, or your non-Belgian timezone equivalent as shown above. There will be no pre-loading of the game before then. The full release of the game weighs in at approximately 122 GB. Please note that your Early Access save games will not be compatible at launch; however, so much has changed that it’s really worth it to start afresh“, Larian wrote on Steam

Recently, Michael Dous, the publishing director of Larian Studios also gave a disappointing update on the game’s Xbox release. As the game will be released on PC later this week and on PlayStation the next month, Microsoft console owners are furious. Talking about the same, the Larian chief expressed concerns about an Xbox release. With the latest tweets, it seems like Xbox players might have to wait till 2024 for Baldur’s Gate 3.

All these updates are just making headlines for the game but for alternate reasons. Meanwhile, fans believe makers will have to find a way out to resolve the preload issue. It will be interesting to see how Larian Studios cater to the fan demand.
