Verdansk is a feeling for Call of Duty fans who lost this map almost two years ago in Warzone. Although it’s never made an appearance again, some of them are still hopeful for its resurrection. This year’s Modern Warfare III did end up giving them hope after its reveal trailer showed glimpses of Verdansk’s popular areas.
However, later, it was confirmed not to be a part of the upcoming Call of Duty’s Multiplayer or Warzone. But, interestingly, the newly surfaced footage of this map has now made it possible to dive into the ‘Verdansky nostalgia’. Thanks to an insider’s efforts, the iconic map from 2019’s rebooted MW has made a return in 2023 – with a caveat.

Alaix, who’s a renowned Call of Duty insider on X (formerly Twitter), recently took to the social media platform to share a clip. Apparently, it was from Infinity Ward’s rebooted Modern Warfare game that launched in 2019. It was the entry that initially introduced fans to the world of Verdansk through its single-player campaign. Later, the region made its way to Activision’s first battle royale, Warzone, in 2020 and the rest is history.
Well, those who are still longing for this map can rejoice now. That’s because a playable build for Verdansk has been unearthed recently. Per the tweet from scooper Alaix, he’s been able to discover a Multiplayer version of this map in Call of Duty Modern Warfare.
It really is Verdansk, no Spec Ops or whatever. pic.twitter.com/ayj6gipwiO

Alaix even showed proof that Verdansk still exists in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. In the aforementioned video, one can see him entering into a Free For All mode, taking place inside the fan-favorite map. And yes, it’s not a Co-op or Spec Ops mode but pure MP mode, according to the scooper.

Is Verdansk actually available in Modern Warfare?
Sadly, the simple answer to this question is NO. The leaked build found by Alaix is from Call of Duty Modern Warfare’s Season 3 Reloaded update. It’s a debug version that was accidentally released three years ago. But now, more people are able to access it somehow. Unfortunately, they can only enjoy it in Multiplayer right now – if they get lucky. Which means it can’t be experienced in the Warzone whatsoever.

It will be interesting to see how Activision’s team reacts to this situation. Accessing a map in this manner is definitely not the right way to play it. Will there be any strict action taken from devs? Only time will tell the answer to this crucial question.
