The online world has often been quite vulnerable to infringements. People have lost their accounts, lost money, and even personal data due to cyber attacks they faced. These get scarier when a huge corporation gets attacked. Riot Games is one of the leaders in the gaming circle that recently fell prey to a similar attack.
The company has some great titles like League of Legends and Valorant to their name and only recently terminated a deal with FTX. Recent reports suggest that Riot Games has fallen prey to an attack. This was confirmed by the company itself through its Twitter handle.

Riot is one of the most popular developers in the gaming sphere right now. Especially as their two competitive games, League of Legends and Valorant are widely acclaimed. Now, Riot Games has issued a statement stating that they were a victim of a social engineering attack.
Earlier this week, systems in our development environment were compromised via a social engineering attack. We don’t have all the answers right now, but we wanted to communicate early and let you know there is no indication that player data or personal information was obtained.

Riot Games was hesitant to give out detailed reports about the attack they faced. But, the company wanted to put the word out to its consumers. Moreover, the community can be relieved as Riot has assured that there was no indication of personal data or information being obtained or leaked.
The affected side of the attack was the developer’s content release ability. That is, due to the engineering attack Riot Games was not able to release content for the community. They are expecting to make a quick fix with the upcoming patches across their several games.
Unfortunately, this has temporarily affected our ability to release content. While our teams are working hard on a fix, we expect this to impact our upcoming patch cadence across multiple games.

They also have assured the community that they will be transparent with the situation and will let the public know if there is any further development in this regard.
Please be patient with us as we work through this, and we’ll keep you posted as we continue our investigation.

Fans were appreciating Riot for its transparency
After Riot Games released a statement to the public about the social engineering attack, the community was seemingly in support of the developers.
This largely was due to the fact that Riot was transparent about the issue. They made sure that the community was made aware of this infringement.
Thanks for the communication, hope you guys find a fix soon!

Furthermore, many were also seen making a joke out of this entire situation. Some were reading between the lines of the statement to say that the attack happened earlier this week and Riot has now finally issued a statement.
“Earlier this week…” then says “we wanted to communicate early” how much earlier was it this week?
