The Valorant lore: All you need to know

Valorant has a very complex narrative. So, to simplify it let’s break the important potions into certain parts. The most important aspect that needs to be looked at is Radianite.

Radianite

The entire game is revolving around this resource. These are the items that the Attackers are trying to blast out from the sites in the game. The origin of the commodity is from an event called ‘The First Light’.

So, years before the Valorant Protocol was issued, there was a day when a worldwide blackout happened. Amidst this, ‘The First Light’ occurred and a new element was discovered after this event, and that is the Radianite.

This element is what gave many people these extraordinary powers. During this time, Kingdom Corp, a multi-international conglomerate started utilizing this newfound element to create energy and became the powerhouse that provided energy for two-thirds of the world. It was them who first initiated the Valorant Protocol.

The Valorant Protocol was a secret organization formed by Kingdom that was aimed to include some exceptional Radiants (people who got powers from the element) Brimstone was the first member and we can speculate Viper was the second. Their primary objective was to safeguard the Radianite and make sure it doesn’t fall into the wrong hands.

Mirrorverse

This is an interesting plot twist in the lore. The First Light not only brought Radianite ores into the world but also brought a replica of the Earth. The earth where Valorant Protocol and Kingdom Corporation was formed is called the ‘Alpha Earth’ while the counterpart was called the ‘Omega Earth’. Every person in the former has a mirror-copy in the latter world.

The Radiants from the Omega Earth are the ones infiltrating Radianite sites in the Alpha Earth to blast them with the spike. So now the question arises? Why do they try to blast these sites? Is it an all-out war?

This question was answered way after many seasons. The introduction of Pearl carried the answers to this question. Did you know there is a Kingdom organization in Omega Earth as well? And they are known as ‘Kingdom Industries’ and their faction of Radiants is called The Valorant Legion.

Unlike the Alpha Earth where the Valorant Protocol was a secret, here in Omega World they are celebrated, warriors. You can spot this from the statues of the original 4 Radiants in Pearl. Compared to Alpha Earth, Omega is actually more advanced by several folds. This factor is also their curse now.

The Radianite in the Omega World has dried up and weather conditions have worsened. So for saving their world from chaos, Radiants from Omega are actually stealing Radianite from the Alpha Earth.

For this, they are using some insane technology. Their teleporters are way more advanced than the Alpha world. You can see them in Fracture and Breeze. So, what is the Valorant Protocol doing to counter this infiltration from their technologically superior counterparts?

The plan of Brimstone is to infiltrate the enemy world. For this, he had instructed Killjoy to create an advanced teleporter, which was too hard for her to make. But luckily, Chamber helped them as he revealed an agent capable of powering these massive devices. That is when Neon was recruited.

Their first infiltration into the Omega world was in the cinematic that we saw in Pearl’s official video. And the continued infiltrations are the ones we saw in the recently released ACT VI cinematics.

Theories and frequent questions

There are a lot of details that are present in the game, which would take hours to understand. So here are some of the rampant questions about the lore. How do the Radiants not die after each fight with their counterparts? The answer to this is quite simple, Sage. She is not seen much in the cinematics and we can speculate that Sage is the one reviving everyone from death. This is just one theory.

Guardians

Guardians are sort of like celestial beings. Their presence is actually an indication that Radianite was already present in the world from early times. Harbor’s Gauntlet and Yoru’s Mask are some of the artifacts that may be an indication of the presence of Guardians.
