Starfield, the most anticipated game of 2023, is finally here and Xbox fans can’t get enough of it. Their dream has come true with the recent launch of this space epic across the globe. However, it seems like players owning it on the PC are not entirely satisfied.

This unexpected situation was recently highlighted by a media outlet reporter while having an interaction with Bethesda’s Starfield director Todd Howard. And in response to the problem faced by certain users, Todd has provided an interesting answer while giving a simple, logical explanation.

Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer and Todd recently talked to Bloomberg Technology’s reporters following the grand release of Starfield. The interview was conducted to answer some burning questions with respect to Bethesda’s latest action RPG.

One of the questions for Howard was about Starfield’s performance on the PC. “Why did you not optimize this game for PC?” asked one of Bloomberg reporter to the Starfield director. It appears that few gamers are not happy with the way the title performs on their systems. Speaking of Todd’s answer, he went on to clarify that it has indeed been optimized and that it’s a “next gen PC game.” Howard kept his answer short, which can be summed up with this response towards the end: “You may need to upgrade your PC.”

So according to Todd, it looks like players complaining over the lack of proper optimization are not having the recommended hardware to enjoy Starfield in its full glory. Well, his reason makes total sense given the large scale of the game. It is a AAA title that needs heavy juice in order to perform the way it’s designed to be. This is exactly what Mr. Howard has also tried to explain.

Todd reveals why there are no vehicles in Starfield

The director also answered on the topic of there being no vehicles to travel on the surface of planets. According to him, there is a major reason why his team didn’t include such an option. It was done to ensure that players discover new places on foot, by themselves. And if they want to cover distances, they simply utilize the jetpacks which they can upgrade in the game.
