Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is gearing up for a launch in the fall of 2023. Teased first in PlayStation Showcase 2021, this Insomniac Games’ title is arguably the most awaited PS5 exclusive of this year. Apart from the tweet from Insomniac stating they are in the kitchen cooking the game and a teaser for the 2021 Showcase, no other news about the title was known.

But looks like finally the marketing for the Spider-Man sequel is starting. In the upcoming comic from Marvel, they might have teased another villain coming to the Spider-Man sequel.

May 6 is Free Comic Book Day. To commemorate this occasion, PlayStation and Marvel will release a comic book that serves as a prelude to Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. According to the PlayStation blog, the story follows Peter, MJ, and Miles after the events in Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales. The trio is adjusting to their personal lives as well as the reality that there are two Spider-Men in town. But they must put all of this aside and work together to confront a new supervillain whose abilities they are unfamiliar with.

This supervillain is none other than the mystical adversary The Hood. This will be the first introduction of this villain in the Insomniac Spider-Man universe. The Spider duo along with MJ will be dealing with this villain right after the events of Spider-Man: Miles Morales.

Now it is unsure if this character will be part of the sequel. If it will, the work for the friendly neighborhood superheroes just got intense as Venom and Kraven the Hunter were revealed to be the big bads. They might be using The Hood as a recurring villain for the game, just like in the Spider-Man comics. A better example of this can be Taskmaster and Screwball’s role in the first game. However, only time will tell how it unfolds.

The comic will be available for the fans on May 6

While this is exciting news, they haven’t revealed the voice actor (if) portraying The Hood to date. In terms of the cast, Yuri Lowenthal and Nadji Jeter will reprise their roles as Peter and Miles from the original game. Also, Tony Todd is confirmed to be the voice of Venom.

International fans would have to wait a little to read this comic, as the date for the international release is not out yet.
