The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is set to launch very soon. It would bring a lot of new things to the world of Hyrule. If producer Eiji Aonuma is to be believed, there is much that this game would bring to the table that would change gaming. While new developments can be adored later, there’s a lot in the present games that fans question and would want to be removed or added. A few gameplay features could have made these games even more enjoyable.
So here are a few features!
Title screen and save selection

From the very beginning, every Zelda game featured a title screen with a theme and three files to select from. Up to three players could start three different games and select their save independently whenever they wanted.
Now, this is possible in newer games too, but it’s more muddled; a lot of saves are in that loading menu. An option to quickly save wherever is good, but there should be a submenu for every file.
A proper soundtrack
While Breath of the Wild had a very beautiful environmental soundtrack, it did not make you feel like you were playing a Zelda game. Piano keys played every now and then when players fought their enemies.
It would be much appreciated by the fans if Nintendo brought back the classic uplifting music that made previous games much more dramatic in tense situations.
Item progression is similar to metroidvanias
This one is pretty straightforward. Link gets a bunch of abilities and items throughout the game, they make him more powerful, but as far as environments are concerned, they do not matter. Previously, some areas of the game were locked until players got a certain item.
This can be added to this new game too. Let’s hope Nintendo does so, as they have clearly worked hard designing new tools and abilities. Why not give them some more use?
Musical instruments and world-changing equipment
In older Zelda games, Link always found himself in possession of some sort of musical instrument or an item that changed the world around him. Changing time, making him smaller—these things have vanished; it’s like the sense of excitement from these games has gone due to this.
Nintendo can at least give its fans an Ocarina to play, just for the sake of it.
Distinguished Dungeons
No matter what anyone says, dungeons were missing from Breath of the Wild. Fans played this game inside out and freed all those divine beasts from Ganon. Those divine beasts were categorized by many as dungeons, but they were not.

They were all similarly laid out rooms with nothing much to offer. There were days when each dungeon had a theme, a musical track of its own, and specialized equipment to assist players in that particular dungeon.

Nintendo should bring those back.
