People find it very satisfying to purchase new and expensive tech. Sometimes that technology can just be a piece of custom hardware that they purchase for themselves. And it is pretty well known that custom hardware can cost a pretty penny. Even hundreds of dollars beyond the original price of the original console. For example, a custom Nintendo Switch can cost close to $500–600.
Youtuber Mrwhosetheboss did something similar. The guy decided to make a video showcasing the most expensive technology he has ever purchased. Among those things was a Nintendo Switch console that cost $500. What was so special about it, though?

The Nintendo Switch OLED is a beautiful console in its own way. It has a huge display and a very slim design. And that OLED display only adds to its charm. Nintendo itself has been releasing a bunch of custom-designed versions of Nintendo Switch consoles over the years. The Nintendo Switch OLED has also gotten a bunch.
From the Splatoon 3 edition to the recently launched and very beautiful Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom edition, there is no shortage of those consoles out there either. The best part is that they are available for a standard price of $349.99.

And yet, a Youtuber called Mrwhosetheboss decided he would love to have something even more special than these factory-built consoles. Hence, he purchases a custom Nintendo Switch OLED inspired by the Famicom system.
Its dock has a skin that represents the design of the popular Nintendo Entertainment System. On the other hand, its Joy-Cons are designed after the controllers of that console. The dark red color in the glossy finish really shines on those controllers. Even those tiny buttons on the inside of those Joy-Cons are red. Finally, the console has a matte finish on the back, and it basically plays the same games that any other Switch OLED does. Too bad there is no way to change that.
This is what he purchased using his $550, and he seemed pretty blown away by it. It’s indeed a beautiful console; not every day does one see such a detailed representation of one of Nintendo’s Classic consoles on new hardware.

The only hope is that Nintendo decides to release something similar someday, as they would surely sell a lot if they did.
