U.S. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer has called for an investigation into a popular influencer-created energy drink associated with PRIME Hydration. Schumer raised concerns about the high caffeine content in the beverage, which he claims is nearly twice as much as a Red Bull and being marketed to children.
Schumer stated, “This is an eye-popping level of caffeine for a young kid’s body.” The warning on the company’s website explicitly states that PRIME Energy is not recommended for children under 18, pregnant or nursing women, or individuals sensitive to caffeine. Additionally, PRIME offers a non-caffeinated hydration drink in similar packaging.
The senator highlighted the packaging and marketing strategies employed for both drinks, emphasizing their striking resemblance. This similarity has led to a situation where parents unknowingly purchase highly caffeinated energy drinks for their children, assuming they are purchasing a hydration and sports beverage.

Schumer expressed concern, stating, “Because the product is billed as a hydration and sports drink in its other, near identical form, kids are likely to ingest cans of this stuff with the parents being unaware.”
