Nintendo has been steadily releasing a number of trailers for their upcoming blockbuster, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, to keep fans hyped for it. In one such trailer, fans noticed two very peculiar characters.
One was a female character, and the other was a dark male-looking character, and both looked pretty prominent. Fans were quick to conclude that at least the female is Princess Zelda after she turns into Goddess Hylia with the help of the Zonai people.
This seems plausible too; there are a bunch of theories and rumors of this happening in the game at some point in time. For the other characters, the theory was even more straightforward; he was just a Zonai elder. He had the looks of a Zonai; had three eyes that were similar to those Zonai symbols fans have seen all this time. But one YouTuber called Ratatoskr thinks otherwise. He thinks both these characters are not who fans think they are.
He points out a mural shown in the recent trailer for the game, which is assumed to be showing something that happened in the past. It shows a similar female figure as one that fans think is Zelda actually holding hands with Zelda to create a symbol.

Now the person says that maybe the character seen in the trailer is the past iteration of Princess Zelda and not Hylia. As players only meet Zonai in the past due to them not even existing in the present.

Secondly, Ratatoskr says that the guy is not Zonai at all but a dragon in human form. He compares the scales of the dragons in Breath of the Wild to those of this character. Then he even points out that the markings around the character’s eyes were very similar to those of the dragon.
He goes on to speculate that there might be even more humanoid dragons in the game than this one. Zonai were known for worshipping dragons, and it would not be surprising if some of them co-existed with them.
