Fake accounts have always been a major issue across the internet. With the rise of social media, this problem only got worse. Many users have fallen victim to fake accounts and catfishing has become a thing that has caused a lot of trouble. One such instance of possible catfishing recently handed a tough lesson to a fan at the Las Vegas TwitchCon.

Like many other creators, Twitch streamer TheNicoleT also held a meet-and-greet session at TwitchCon. The session helped the streamer’s fans to get to know her better and ask the questions she would otherwise not answer on a live stream. During the event, TheNicoleT was approached by a fan who offered her a hug before asking his question.

The fan revealed his username to the streamer and TheNicoleT accepted that it “rang a bell“. Then, the fan showed the chat he was having with an account on X, formerly Twitter, and wanted to know if he had things right. However, the streamer had some unfortunate news for the fan as she told him it wasn’t her account and he might have been catfished.

Understandably, the fan was left with a gaping mouth. The fan later claimed that he didn’t say anything too bad in the conversation. For all we know, that might be the only point of relief for him!
