Pokemon Legends: Arceus is one of the breakout hits of 2022 and rightly so. The Nintendo Switch exclusive, due to its compelling gameplay style, has been quite dominant so far. However, a new release, in Triangle Strategy, recently opened strongly with its surprising performance. It may prove to be a solid rival to the Pokemon title.

The tactical role-playing game, Triangle Strategy, has managed to be the third bestseller on the Switch eShop charts in the US. However, it is still behind the number one rank holder, Pokemon Legends: Arceus.

Triangle Strategy holds its own despite Pokemon Legends: Arceus mania

For those uninitiated, Triangle Strategy is developed by Artdink and published by Square Enix. Nintendo has also published it outside the Japanese region, for the Switch console.

It is a turn-based tactical RPG, that may remind some of the famous Fire Emblem or the Final Fantasy tactical titles. In Triangle Strategy, a player takes turns to move various characters from their party across the grid-based field. There, they need to fight and win against the computer-operated enemies.

Each character that you control has a fixed value of movement range and attack power, and also the range as per their turns.

Triangle Strategy launched last week on March 4, 2022, for the Nintendo Switch. And on the US eShop charts, it has emerged as the third-best game, despite the continuous, supreme dominance of Pokemon Legends: Arceus.

Everyone knows how great the newest Pokemon installment has been on the Switch. But still, having a little challenge from a tactical RPG like Triangle Strategy is huge. For the latter, it should be a moment of pride, all things considered, that it’s in the top three, alongside Pokemon Legends: Arceus.
