Call of Duty: Vanguard struck a better chord with its fanbase from the onset than the likes of Battlefield 2042. Although a myriad of bugs and glitches have plagued the title recently, players keep coming back to it. However, one feature fans have always longed for is a ranked playlist in the game’s multiplayer. And to the collective joy of the community, a February 8 announcement offered them just that!

But a recent update means those fans might have to wait a little longer before they can hop into a Ranked multiplayer match.

Call of Duty: Vanguard would not receive Ranked gameplay just yet

In a Twitter post by Treyarch, the developer revealed they had across a peculiar issue a mere 12 hours before the Ranked play beta was supposed to go live. They reportedly discovered a stat-breaking issue that went unnoticed before conducting the retail tests in a live environment.

Accordingly, Treyarch Studios has delayed the launch of Ranked Play until the issue is resolved. It is a disappointment to receive the news when the game was on the cusp of the update. But if the recent string of battle royales falling victim to a plethora of game-breaking bugs and glitches has taught the community anything, it is giving enough time to developers to make a finished product.

Ranked play has constantly been at the forefront of the community’s demands since Vanguard’s launch. The update was supposed to offer a slew of new features to its player base. Activision’s announcement detailed:

“Vanguard will offer a bespoke Multiplayer Ranked Play mode (launching in Beta at the start of Season Two) featuring league-approved rules, visible Skill Ratings, and new competitive rewards among other innovations from Treyarch and Sledgehammer Games.”

But fans won’t have to wait for long. Treyarch has notified its audience that resolving the issue is a “top priority”. The announcement details:

“Resolving this is a top priority, and we’ll have an update on timing ASAP.”

And in a fortunate turn of events, fans are lauding Treyarch’s transparency on the matter.
