Treyarch Studios appears to have finally taken action against users who were abusing some parts of Call of Duty Vanguard’s Ranked Play. The addition of a ranked mode in Call of Duty Vanguard was well received by players. The community reacted positively to the addition of this game option.

With any ranked game mode comes the pressure and grace of winning or losing. Sometimes you get an easy win and rank up. Other times you fight till your last breath but still lose. It’s a part of the game and players have learned to take the loss and move on. However, some players started taking unfair advantage of the situation.

When players know for a fact that the chances of winning a match aren’t very high and they might lose Skill Rating, they simply leave. This is incredibly unethical and wrong. However, it looks like Treyarch will take action against players who have abused the system.

Treyarch brings much-needed fix in Call of Duty Ranked mode

Players have complained of teammates ditching them after the start of a match. This practice is known as ‘dashboarding’ and is prevalent in almost all games that have a ranked-based aspect. Dashboarding is unfair mainly for two reasons:

  1. The teammates who they have abandoned are doomed for an unenjoyable loss,
  2. When facing no penalty, a dashboarder only takes the fights he wins. This means that he will never face any negative rating and is hence more likely to top a better player who has played fairly.

However, it looks like Treyarch Studios has shut dashboarders down with their latest update.

Treyarch has a record of players who have left mid-game in the ranked mode of Call of Duty Vanguard. The players who abandoned their teammates will now face a massive reduction in skill rating equivalent to the losses they evaded on by quitting.

It looks like this was definitely a step in the right direction by Treyarch and will help in creating a more player-friendly and less toxic playerbase.
