Call of Duty Modern Warfare II is soon going to hit the stores worldwide and Activision is leaving no stone unturned in order to make the hype go through the roof. The recently concluded CDL 2022 tournament was a perfect example of this where the publisher revealed a huge information on the awaited open beta phase.

Following the reveal of a brand new showcase in Call of Duty Next next month, the makers will begin the open beta access for multiple platforms. However, there are some crucial details players need to know as they prepare to try out the pre-release MWII content.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare II Open Beta Early Access details revealed

The Call of Duty Modern Warfare II Open Beta will be available to access for free on all the supported platforms. It implies that players who preordered it digitally, at retail, or received beta codes can try it without paying any extra cost.

For those who have beta codes, they are tied to their respective Activision accounts and are “platform agnostic meaning you can access the Beta on your hardware of choice,” according to the official blog on CoD’s website.

Speaking of the main beta phase, then it will be split into two playable weekends. However, early access is available to only those with digital or retail pre-orders.

When will the Modern Warfare II open beta be available?

The first beta weekend will run from September 16 at 10 AM PT to Tuesday, September 20. It’s going to be exclusively available for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 players only. Also, they don’t need the PS Plus subscription in order to try out the beta. Early Access will be available from September 16 starting at 10 AM PT.

Meanwhile, all other PS owners who didn’t pre-order the game at all can still access the open beta when it will be available for everyone, from September 18 starting at 10 AM PT. Regardless of their pre-order status, they can play the pre-release content while also unlocking rewards available in the game during the time of launch.

The second beta weekend will include the option of crossplay, meaning all the console and PC players can try out the beta together. The weekend will run from Thursday, September 22th at 10AM PT to Monday, September 26th. Players can join their friends on different devices in order to enjoy the game.

When it comes to Xbox and PC early access, then those who pre-ordered Call of Duty Modern Warfare II for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, or PC via Steam or Battle.net, can play the beta on Thursday, September 22th at 10 AM PT. Xbox Live Gold is necessary for Xbox users while PC gamers need a Battle.net or Steam account.

The remainder of the weekend from Saturday, September 24th at 10 AM PT to Monday, September 26th will give beta access to all the Xbox and PC players regardless of their pre-order status.

What’s there in the Call of Duty Modern Warfare II open beta?

Speaking of what one can expect in the awaited beta content, then Activision will include tons of new features for the fans to enjoy. Along with a robust multiplayer experience, the beta will offer a more immersive experience beyond the traditional 6v6 mode. There will be new maps with stunning details and a high level of challenging design.

One of the multiplayer maps, Marina Bay Grand Prix, has been revealed already. It will have the combat occurring within the main infield of an urban race circuit itself.

Moreover, those who have pre-ordered the Vault Edition of Call of Duty Modern Warfare II will be able to get more perks during the beta phase. They will get all four Red Team 141 Operators, namely Ghost, Farah, Price, and Soap. Each one of them will be wearing a special masked outfit. The FJX Cinder Weapon Vault will be available as well for the ones with Vault Edition pre-orders.
