Pokemon is one of the most well-known video game franchises. This video game series has been around for almost three decades now. These games have also been adapted into anime because of their immense popularity. The game series has over nine generations, with the most recent being Pokemon Scarlet and Violet for the Nintendo Switch device.

The games typically center on a young trainer who embarks on a quest, where they encounter and catch many unusual creatures known as Pokemon along the way. Furthermore, players battle other trainers and overcome different obstacles to become the Champion. But to become a Champion, the players must build a strong team of Pokemon. So let’s look into such strong Pocket Monsters that players should have to dominate Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

10. Glimmora – Rock/Poison-type Pokemon

Scarlet and Violet introduced many new unique-looking Pokemon, and one of them is Glimmora. It is a Rock/Poison-type Pokemon with not the most pleasing overall, but the 90-Defense and 190-Special Attack is worth some attention.

However, the reason for Glimmora to make it into this list is not because of those two stats but for its ability called Tokix Debris. When this Rock/Poison-type Pokemon is damaged by physical moves, it scatters poison spikes at the foot of the opposing squad. This can cause problems for the opponent’s entire party.

9. Barraskewda – Water-type Pokemon

Don’t let the look deceive you. Barraskewda might not look like a good Pokemon to have, but it is definitely one to have in the squad. It is a Water-type that first appeared in the Pokemon Sword and Shield.

Barraskewda has an impressive 123-Attack and 136-Speed Stat. The incredible speed will always let players have an advantage. But the best part about this Pokemon is its huge move pool. Furthermore, Barraskewda is easy to obtain in the game, as Arrokuda are readily available and can be evolved at level 26.

8. Corviknight – Flying/Steel-type Pokemon

Sword and Shield introduced some of the best Pokemon, which includes the Flying/Steel-type Corviknight. This “Raven Pokemon” remains one of the strongest in Scarlet and Violet. Also, its earliest pre-evolved form Rookidee is easily available in Paldea.

But you might wonder why one should get this Flying type over one of the favorites Staraptor, which is also easy to get in this ninth gen game. So, the reason is Corviknight’s Flying/Steel-type, as it gets resistivity against most Pokemon types because of having that Steel-typing.

7. Slaking – Normal-type Pokemon

Slaking is probably one of the oldest Pokemon on the list, having made its first appearance in third-generation games like Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald. It is a Normal-type which might make many think about having such a simple Pokemon. But players shouldn’t let this fact fool them.

Slaking is an absolute tank in every Pokemon game. It has such spectacular stats that can even rival those of a legendary Pokemon. But the most spectacular stats have to be its 150-HP and 160-Attack.

6. Houndstone – Ghost-type Pokemon

Pokemon fans went crazy when Scarlet and Violet first revealed the Ghost-type Greavard. Everyone was in love with the adorable “Ghost Dog Pokémon”. But what is more spectacular is its evolution Houndstone, which evolves from Grevard at level 30 at night.

Houndstone might not have the best stats that will make any player think to have it on their team, however, it can become one of the strongest Pokemon in Scarlet and Violet thanks to one move called Last Respects.

It is a Ghost-type move with 50 base power and 100% accuracy, which isn’t particularly impressive. However, it receives a plus 50 boost whenever a Pokemon in the user’s party faints. If Houndstone is the last Pokemon in the player’s party, Last Respects would have 300 base power.

5. Annihilape – Fighting/Ghost-type Pokemon

Game Freak lately has been introducing new evolutions for some older generations, like Primeape. This first-generation Pokemon evolves into the Fighting/Ghost-type Annihilape in Scarlet and Violet after using Rage Fist 20 times.

Other than the unique typing, this Pokemon has some excellent stats like 110-HP, 115-Attack, 80-Defense, and 90 in Special Defence and Speed. What makes it even better is its Rage Punch; a new move introduced in the ninth gen that gets stronger with each use.

4. Palafin (Hero Form) – Water-type Pokemon

Palafin is possibly the craziest Pokemon in Scarlet and Violet. This Pokemon evolves from Finizen at level 38, while playing the game in multiplayer. But surprisingly there isn’t much change in the appearance of this Pokemon, and no huge boosts. Undoubtedly, this Pokemon might feel like a joke after evolving it.

But the creators pulled off a “Clark Kent to Superman” with it. This Pokemon has an ability called Zero to Hero, where when the player switch outs this Pokemon in a battle, it changes into Hero mode. In the new mode, it has some excellent stats, but the cherry on top is the 160-Attack.

3. Garchomp – Dragon/Ground-type Pokemon

Since introducing Garchomp in the fourth generation games, this pseudo-Legendary again found a place among the elite Pokemon in Scarlet and Violet. This Dragon/Ground type is undoubtedly one of the most-beloved Pokemon, whom everyone loves to use.

From having a spectacular total base stat of 600 to the Dragon/Ground-typing, it is a Pokemon you should definitely have in your party. Garchomp has access to some of the most-devastating Ground and Dragon-type moves like Draco Meteor and Earthquake.

2. Dragapult – Dragon/Ghost-type Pokemon

After Garchomp, it would be nice to have the pseudo-Legendary Pokemon from the ninth generation. Dragapult is possibly one of the best Pokemon introduced in Scarlet and Violet. But what’s interesting is that it evolves from one of the weakest Pokemon called Dreepy.

Dragapult has a pretty unique dual typing of Dragon and Ghost. Moreover, it also has a total of 600 base stat like Garchomp, as most of its stats are focused on Attack and Speed. But it has access to excellent Ghost and Dragon-type moves. But the only problem is that it’s a Violet exclusive, so those on Scarlet would have to trade one.

1. Gardevoir – Psychic/Fairy-type Pokemon

It seems Game Freak decided to create some of the best Pokemon for the fourth-generation game. Aside from Garchomp, Gardevoir is also one of the best Pokemon from that generation that even took a top sport in Scarlet and Violet. This Pokemon is extremely famous among fans for its appearance, but it also got some power.

Gardevoir is a Psychic/Fairy-type that evolves from Kirlia at level 30. It has an impressive 125-Special Attack and 115-Special Defense stat, making it a perfect candidate to be a Special Attacker in the party. Gardevoir has access to mind-blowing moves like Moonblast, Future Sight, Thunder Bolt, and Hyper Beam.
