Nintendo Switch will soon get a successor, which is already gaining headlines. This unannounced handheld console would, of course, be much more powerful than its current model. This would mean players would be able to experience video games with much improved visual fidelity.

But there’s one more thing to be excited about: the next-gen patches games on the current system might get. In that anticipation, here’s a list of some of the best-looking games on Nintendo Switch that totally deserve a next-gen patch!

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom

This excellent duo of The Legend of Zelda games is already among the best-looking games on this system. There’s no doubt Nintendo has been using some sort of black magic to ensure these games run smoothly on this system.

We can’t help but imagine a next-gen version of these games running at a smooth 60 fps and a much higher resolution.

Xenoblade Chronocles 3

Yet another game that already makes everyone wonder how Nintendo managed to run it on the Switch’s hardware. Xenoblade Chronicles 3 deserves a next-gen patch to improve its visuals and performance, just so fans can get a better look at this beautiful world Nintendo and Monolith Soft have so painstakingly crafted.

Super Mario Odyssey

Mario goes on an adventure through the universe, trying to find Princess Peach. Sprawling with lush forests and desserts full of sand that looks like shiny crystals. Nintendo somehow managed to make this game run at 60 fps. And that is why this game deserves a resolution boost.

Imagine the ability to play this game with much better resolution and some graphical upgrades.

Kirby and The Forgotten Land

Kirby finally got its open-world title, and the game, no doubt, is its flawless transition into a new dimension. Abandoned cities full of broken-down cards and buildings reclaimed by nature—this game has its own charm.

As Kirby explores this city, it’s hard not to imagine how this game would have looked with improved visuals.

Metroid Prime Remastered

This game already looks beautiful enough. Over that, it runs at 60FPS in 900P, which is pretty typical for a Nintendo Switch game.

Metroid Prime Remastered is a game that is a few generations old; hence, it would not be a big deal for Nintendo to push this game to 2K or even 4K on their next-generation console.

Octopath Traveler

This is one of Square Enix’s best efforts on the Nintendo Switch. The game would not look like much to many people, but in a number of ways, its aesthetics just stand out. That pseudo-pixelated style makes every scene look like a beautiful diorama. All this game needs once again is a resolution boost and HDR support, just so fans can experience this game in its full glory!

Monster Hunter: Rise

As we have mentioned a number of times, this is an excellent game. A very addictive and fun primary gameplay loop, and visuals that look pretty clean as well as beautiful. Even though it’s fun to play on Nintendo’s hybrid console, the 30 fps lock seems like a huge hurdle.

It would be awesome if Capcom decided to push it to 1080p and give us a fps boost to 60FPS.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

The fact that this game even runs on the Nintendo Switch is a miracle in itself. But it is pretty evident how CD Projekt Red managed to bring The Witcher 3 to this console. They had to sacrifice a lot in terms of visuals. It would be great if they decided to give this game a patch to improve its visuals and rid their fans of those blurry, pixelated visuals.

Dark Souls Remastered

A game that many were surprised even made its way to the Nintendo Switch. This From Software masterpiece allowed players to explore a ruined world with excellent visuals. The only thing missing from this version of this excellent title was a 60 fps frame rate.

This addition would turn this already excellent game into a must-have.

Luigi’s Mansion 3

Luigi’s adventure through a haunted place in search of his older brother is nothing short of a miracle. Many consider it to be the best-looking game on this system, and that is not without reason. This game looks like a Pixar movie that players can control. And what’s even more miraculous is that it runs at full HD resolution when docked. Imagine what a patch for improved performance and 2K or even 4K resolution would do for this game.
