Nintendo has always been a pioneer in creating fan-favorite games. Thus, it is unsurprising that after so many years in the business, it might witness some major modifications to its consoles. As a result of which several games have been lost to history along with the console that it came with.

Therefore, fans have always wanted a way to bring those games back to the new Nintendo Switch by porting. Keeping that in mind, here are the top five games that Nintendo needs to port in order to bring that nostalgia back.

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door (GameCube)

Developed for the GameCube, Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door is one of the games that seriously needs to get ported to Nintendo Switch. In the game, you play as Mario who saves Princess Peach from an alien abduction. Released in 2004, the game was developed by Intelligent Systems and was published by Nintendo.

The game can only be played on GameCube and has not yet been disclosed to come out for Nintendo Switch anytime soon. But with the latest trend by the console giant to bring old classics to their latest console, it seems as if it can be a possibility soon.

Eternal Darkness: Sanity’s Requiem (GameCube)

Originally planned for Nintendo 64, but later released on GameCube, Eternal Darkness: sanity Requiem is a masterpiece of its own kind. The game sees the player taking control of several characters as they fight against an evil entity.

Eternal Darkness: Sanity’s Requiem was special for many reasons, like being the first Nintendo game to have rated M, and also the first game to release after Satoru Iwata became President of the company.

The game is also very special in the sense that it uses a new kind of mechanics called the Sanity Effect to make some horrifying imagery for the player as they explore the game. The game was developed by Silicon Knights (disbanded) and published by Nintendo on June 24, 2002.

The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker/Twilight Princess (GameCube, Nintendo Wii/Wii U)

Two most celebrated Legend of Zelda titles that are still not ported for Nintendo Switch. Although reports are getting intense about the release of the games on Switch soon, there are still no proper dates on when the games can be released for the console.

Released for the GameCube and later Wii/Wii U, both the games have been critically acclaimed by fans and critics. With a storyline based on alternate timelines, the game follows the hero of our journey, Link, in saving Hyrule. The game can still be played on GameCube and Wii U, but can soon be ported to Switch.

Super Mario Galaxy 2 (Nintendo Wii)

Released for Wii in 2010, Super Mario Galaxy 2 was a hit by Nintendo for that year. Winning several awards for Game of the Year, Super Mario Galaxy 2 also sold almost seven million copies, making it one of the highest-selling Wii games of all time.

In the game, Mario is tasked with saving Princess Peach using the power of baby Luma and traveling across the galaxy to the center of the Universe to defeat Bowser from creating his own empire. Super Mario Galaxy 2‘s gameplay is similar to that of Super Mario Galaxy, with a concentration on platforming built on and around 3D planets, organized into stages known as galaxies.

Animal Crossing New Leaf (Nintendo 3DS and 2DS)

One of the most shocking entries in this list, Animal Crossing New Leaf, is an excellent game, which some consider to be better than the new Animal Crossing New Horizon. Originally released for Nintendo 3DS and 2DS, the game hasn’t received any port for the game yet.

But with the latest releases on Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack, it seems that the game can soon be released for the console. It was developed and published by Nintendo and was initially released in 2012 in Japan and in 2013 in other countries.
