As reported by The Verge, the awaited expansion launched just a few days ago along with the official release of the movie. The free DLC update features a Top Gun: Maverick Edition livery. Players can have it on the F/A-18E Super Hornet. Moreover, there are three training missions as well for the Super Hornet. Additionally, there is also a very tough aircraft carrier landing challenge.

In the Top Gun: Maverick expansion, Microsoft Flight Simulator players, on Xbox, will learn high-speed maneuvering and unrestricted take-offs. Plus, they can even perform low altitude stunts, similar to those featured in Tom Cruise’s movie.

After finishing the training, the players will face five challenges. These include traversing through canyons and above the mountains at very high speed.

The Top Gun: Maverick expansion also includes a hypersonic aircraft, capable of reaching the speed of up to Mach 10. It’s similar to a scene in the film where Tom Cruise flies an aircraft at this exact speed (even beyond that).

Xbox players also get the option to move into the stratosphere while flying the hypersonic aircraft in the Microsoft Flight Simulator.

In another news, Tom Cruise‘s summer blockbuster recently opened with a historic box office collection. The film has broken the Memorial Day weekend record previously held by Johnny Depp‘s Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End.

Maverick, which is a sequel to 1986’s classic action title, earned a staggering $156 million in the first four days in the US. It’s the first time that actor, Tom Cruise has witnessed an opening of $100 million in his career.
