Tokyo finally got its chance to host the prestigious Olympic games as the opening ceremony showcased astonishing performances. Gamers also saw some representation in the mecca of sports tournaments. The opening ceremony of the Tokyo Olympics featured memorable soundtracks of legendary Japanese video games that fans can never forget. Japan has played a key role in shaping everyone’s childhood with top-rated gaming studios in Sega, Capcom, and many more.

The opening ceremony of the Olympic Games contained songs from famous titles like Sonic, Dragon Quest, and Final Fantasy franchise, NeiR, Monster Hunter, and more that caught everyone by surprise.

Tokyo Olympics pays homage to revolutionary Japanese video games

According to a report by APNews, prominent esports title found their place within the opening moments of the esteemed event. Japanese culture takes pride in all kinds of art forms, and musical scores for video games are also built with the same passion. The organizers played Edrick’s song that belongs to a prominent franchise, Dragon Quest franchise. This melodic tune took everyone back in the time of the age of 8-Bit days when Sega and Nintendo’s console ruled the roost.

Dragon Quest gave birth to the RPG genre, which has now become one the most dominant genres of the industry. This title was so popular back in the days that it gave birth to RPG addiction. The ceremony then followed up with another fan-favorite musical score that Final Fantasy fans will surely remember. The opening theme of Final Fantasy was played, followed by the iconic Victory Fanfare song after besting each enemy encounter.

The franchise holds 15 amazing titles and each of them still contains both musicals pieces, which certainly makes them iconic. The parade then brought forward another memorable opening track from everyone’s favorite speedster ‘Sonic’. The opening track ‘Star Light Zone’ the first iteration of the game was played. These titles, among a list of many others, were featured in the ceremony, as they definitely helped Japanese gaming studios to become prominent names in the industry.
