Fortnite is one of the most popular and successful battle royale titles out there. Thanks to its developer Epic Games, the game has evolved from a companion piece to a survival game to this behemoth that it is today.
Epic games keeps it fresh. They come up with new updates, characters, and such. And over the years since Fortnite launched, they have also managed to develop a narrative to support all the mayhem that players go around causing in Fortnite. Sometimes some really cool crossover events and guest characters were part of these updates. For example, there was a time Epic partnered with Marvel to bring the MCU to the game. The other time, they did something similar with DC.

These crossovers have gone to such an extent that anything new and weird that Epic Game teases for Fortnite seems like a genuine thing and that’s where fans sometimes end up getting trolled. Sometimes Epic teases a thing or two and for one reason or other it doesn’t show up in the game. So let us take a look at the times when Epic really trolled Fortnite players with misinterpreted teases.
Stranger things in Fortnite
During their Fortnitemares event, Epic Games added a location known as Grim Gables to the game and a number of fans thought of it as an indication of a Stranger Things crossover.

Everyone was comparing Grim gables to the Creel house from the series and that’s where they set themselves up for disappointment. They even had the grandfather clock and a whole flipped room upstairs. Given all the hints, the fans had kept even more expectations as they were hoping to get the Vecna skin as well. However, they doubled their disappointment as neither of the things happened.
The Rings of Power x Fortnite
During Fortnite Season 2, a rock family emerged from the seas and set up their houses on the beach in Fortnite. They decorated the beach with a sand castle and players instantly started comparing it to The Helm’s Deep.
Fans were sure of a Lord of the Rings crossover would be seen soon, as the timing was also aligning with the Rings of Power release. But they were disappointed when nothing came.
Rap God
In season 3 gamers noticed that their cars were only playing songs by celebrated rapper Eminem on Icon radio. As usual, this developed a thought amongst them that maybe a skin or a concert related to Eminem was on its way to the game. But to their disappointment, again, nothing came of this.
Peter Griffin
For a very long time, Epic games have been teasing the famous animated sitcom character Peter griffin’s appearance in the game. And in an Unreal Engine-related stream, players noticed a list of unreleased trailers which had Family Guy’s name in it.

Players instantly decided it would be revealed soon. Peter Griffin never made it to Fortnite. Maybe he tripped on the way and hurt his knee and is still sitting in the very place he fell.

Now we are not saying anything is anyone’s fault here. Sometimes plans fall apart and sometimes people misinterpret things. So the only lesson that gamers learned here was to take everything that Fortnite teases with a grain of salt. It can save disappointment at certain times.
