In the recent few months, Ukraine has become extremely active in bringing down all the big mining facilities that do not have any legal licenses. Ukraine has shut down a huge cryptocurrency farm for using PlayStation 4 consoles for stealing electricity. According to several reports, SBU (Ukraine’s Security Service) searched an abandoned-looking warehouse in Vinnytsia city and found approximately 3,800 Playstation 4 consoles along with mobile phones, laptops, graphic cards (approx 500), and 50 processors. A closer look at the matter revealed a lot of inside information.
The operators used to steal electricity from the chief town to power all the tools to mine some cryptocurrency. Not only this, but they have found that the facility belonged to JSC Vinnytsiaoblenergo, which is an electrical company.

Ukraine’s Security Service in action
The operators used to interfere with the electric meter to change the reading by a pretty huge margin. Approximately $186,200 to $25,900 has been stolen each month, which is quite a lot. Ukraine security services have now started serious proceedings for the unauthorized use of electricity, water, or even thermal energy at this point.
The security services have been in action for some months now and at the starting of June, they uncovered an illegal mining facility connected with the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast power grid. Upon some more research, they found that the faculty has used over $70,000 in just three months.

Another illegal mining faculty in Chernihiv was shut down roughly around two weeks ago. It used to steal approximately $110,00 in just two months. It is quite an enormous amount for such a short period. The Ukraine security services seized 150 ASICS after this incident.
The interesting fact here is that the use of gaming consoles to mine cryptocurrency is not new or even shocking. Well, not that common, but not completely new. Smartsmashing (Youtuber) was able to change his Gameboy to get/mine some Bitcoin. Ukraine’s security service and authorities are still in action to uncover some more unauthorized mining faculty.
