Video games and eSports are two things that are frowned upon by many parents. Though the industry is inching towards a trillion-dollar market, there are many stereotypes associated with gaming and its subsidiary components. Though we can say that the dynamics of this is shifting, gaming is still not considered ‘ideal’ by many parents.

But one parent who was spotted at the DreamHack event was breaking this stereotype. Moreover, he was actually using the platform as a means to bond more with his autistic son.

The gaming industry is one of the biggest revenue-generating fields in the world. With more and more titles coming into the mix, games sure have become a big source of entertainment for many. Moreover, the competitive front of eSports has been witnessing a massive growth in the last decade.

But for Josh, gaming has a whole different meaning. It is the means through which he can bond with his son, who is autistic. In an interview with Jake Lucky at the Dream Hacks event, Josh talked about how gaming is helping him explore more ways to connect with his son.

“When my son was born, I had all these aspirations like, I am a jock, am clearly a jock. He is going to play lacrosse, and autism changed all that,” stated Josh.

Josh had a rough time growing up. He had a single mother and the only form of entertainment that he got while he was little was to play on his Nintendo. So he wanted to make sure that when his son was born, he would help him venture into sports. But autism restricted this, especially as his son doesn’t like being touched.

At this dire time, the activity that kept Josh company during his childhood days came back to assist him. Gaming became the means through which the son was able to connect with his dad and the world that is around him.

The community loved how the dad was breaking the social boundaries

The fans who witnessed Josh’s story love the approach through which he assisted his son. They were showering their appreciation through the comments section on Twitter.

Some others who have faced problems due to autism also came forward to express their support. They were seen stating how much they can relate to the situation.
