When playing a game, what most players look for is a fun experience. Yet, when playing a game, it is also important to remember a significant part of the experience is realism. In racing games and similar titles, realism plays a huge role in the way gamers get to experience the title. Similarly, with shooters, making a realistic shooter is quite difficult. When one exciting gameplay trailer brought forth the idea of one of the most realistic shooters, an expert had to test it out.

Navy SEAL Geoff Reeves viewed footage of Unrecord, a new shooter announced back in April. He gave his input about what he felt the game lacked and where it shined.

First-person shooters are a big part of the gaming industry today. The excitement of making your way through a tight battlefield as a firefight ensues garners a lot of popularity. However, a lot of times these shooters do not seem to be accurate. When Unrecord showed footage of its gameplay, the level of realism left fans stunned.

The game uses body-cam police officers wear to give a new twist to the first-person perspective. Additionally, what sets the game apart is its graphics. What seems to be hyper-realistic visuals, the graphics set the bar very high for the title. After being announced back in April, Navy SEAL Geoff Reeves had to see what all the fuss was about.

In the video, he watches footage from the gameplay. Right off the bat, he loves the way the game looks, saying, “This looks real.” There is also a lot of attention paid to the body movement of the player, making it seem more realistic with the swaying since the player holds guns.

However, there were a lot of aspects that did not sit right with Reeves. Throughout the gameplay footage, the player is shown to be using a wide variety of equipment such as a battering ram and a shield. These are standard tactical operations. However, given how heavy they are, it is very unrealistic to see one person carry them all. Reeves specifies it is usually one member in a team given the job of specific equipment.

He says, “So the part where he’s pulling up all these different like big-ticket items I would say is big equipment such as the ram such as the shield could you have these sure on one guy. This would be multiple teams, three-four guys going in for this kind of stuff.

Additionally, what seems to be a major issue is the way the game plays out. Things such as clearing corners, engaging suspects, what weapons to use in engagements, as well as the kind of equipment being used remained a problem. However, this could simply be dependent on the player if the game makes these options customizable. It was one of the things he pointed out. There is only so much developers can do to make the game realistic. There is also the need to make it fun for players

While not entirely accurate, he still liked the game, saying, “Did I like it? Yeah.” He did point out that while it was not entirely correct, it remains a fun game to play. While there is no official launch date, the game will be coming to PC.
