Kyle Giersdorf aka Bugha, who earned his stardom after winning the 2019 Fortnite Worldcup has announced his departure from the American Esports Organization, Sentinels. After the organization decided to let go of Fortnite esports, Giersdorf announces he won’t be able to continue with the team anymore. 


In early 2019, Bugha joined the renowned Esports team, the Sentinels. That year he won 3 Million dollar cash money after winning the Fortnite World Cup. His achievement earned him not only money but an unbeatable reputation and fame in the Esports world. His likeness even appeared as a cosmetic outfit in Fortnite. 

Fortnite pro Bugha is ready for a new start in 2023

As the tides of the Esports scene are changing many big names and organizations are shifting their focus to adapt to the new landscape of Esports. For example, due to a lack of sponsor opportunities and ‘branded in-game content’ from Fortnite, Sentinels have decided to stop participating in Fortnite competitions.

On December 29, 2022, CEO of Sentinels, Rob Moore announced on Twitter, “As our organization maps out the future,our strategy is to focus on games that provide the opportunity to activate for our sponsors or offer team branded in game content. Fortnite has not offered either of those. I am announcing today we will no longer be competing in Fortnite.”

After this announcement, Fortnite pros such as “Bugha” Giersdorf, Nick “Aspect” McGuire, and Brian “Zyfa” Wielgolaski no longer signed with the team anymore. Even though Bugha was undoubtedly one of the most successful and accomplished players in the organization, ineveatbely it was decided to let him go. 

Today is my last day as SEN Bugha. I’ll forever be grateful for the opportunity over the last 3 years. While this is the end of an era and memorable chapter of my career — this also starts an exciting new one in 2023. Thank you, @sentinelsannounced the young Fortnite World Champion. 

“The greatest to ever play the game. The world champion. You set the bar for what it means to be a Sentinel. Thank you for everything Bugha.” Sentinels shared their farewell notes to their “The Greatest” Fortnite player and bid him well.
