First-person shooters are one of the biggest communities in the world of gaming. Games like Counter-Strike and Valorant have been around for decades, with a fan base of millions. Developed by Riot Games, Valorant quickly became a top-tier PvP game, amassing a dedicated player base. However, it lacks one distinct feature that fans have been asking for ever since it released.
With the third anniversary of the game, fans keep asking when the replay feature will be introduced into Valorant. However, there seems to be no reaction from the game developers.

Being able to view your match replays helps you approach your gameplay in new ways. It allows you to look at your mistakes and certain ideas that you must remember when playing online. Fans have been asking for the replay feature ever since the game was first released in the summer of 2020. However, much to fans’ disappointment, the feature did not make it to the game. As we celebrate the third anniversary of Valorant’s release, it seems the requests for a replay feature still go unrecognized.

When the game was initially launched, Senior Producer Steven Eldredge promised the inclusion of the feature, going on to highlight its importance for the game. “Yes! This is something that we’re interested in exploring soon. Whether it’s to study previous matches for tactical advantages or to create spicy memes, we know that players will find a wide range of interesting uses for a system like this,” he said at Ask VALORANT #3 on 16 July 2020.
This comes as a big surprise, given the way Riot has been known to take care of its game and fan base.
The need for a replay system in Valorant
The need for a replay system stems from the idea to be better by seeing where you went wrong. It applies right from an individual level to a higher competitive tier of Valorant. At higher tiers, these players are competing for huge sums of money. Even minute bits of information can prove to be what separates winners. The effect of knowing your mistakes will be even greater.

Building on the competitive aspects, when it comes to e-sports, anti-stratting becomes a part of the picture. This is when teams develop strategies tailor-made for certain opponents. This will only come from being able to watch matches inside the game, instead of relying on third-party records of matches.
Riot is competing with Valve when it comes to how their game performs. Valve’s CS: GO had the replay feature for an incredibly long time, whereas it took Riot nearly six years to bring the replay feature to League of Legends. With the arrival of Counter-Strike 2 looming over our heads, the way Riot reacts to its fans’ demands will determine exactly how much of its player base will migrate to the new game.
