When it comes to movie and TV show adaptations of video games, there are only a rare few that come close to achieving the feat of achieving perfection. With The Last of Us and The Witcher, we are well in an era of making marvelous video game adaptations. With the latest Fast X movie, it looks like another game, Fortnite, is coming close to a movie adaptation.

Fast X director, Louis Leterrier, made his feelings about wanting to make a Fortnite movie abundantly clear.

Fast X director wants to work with a Fortnite movie

Fortnite always had a big story behind it. For a long time, Fortnite built a deep story spanning multiple chapters and several seasons. It could be enough to weave a movie script, or that is what Fast X director Louis Leterrier thinks! Appearing at the San Diego Comic-Con, Leterrier spoke about his fascination with Fortnite, particularly about wanting to create a movie about the game. 

The Epic Games title has its own vivid storyline, filled with a wide variety of characters and storylines. These stories include the island itself. During the interview, Leterrier spoke about his love for the game when he was asked why he adored the game. During this time, he said, “Because the game is incredible. The characters… I mean, there’s so much more to be told. It’d be funny. It would be full of action and everything.”

His words brought a gleam of hope in the eyes of fans. While Fortnite’s larger plot has been something of a confusing mystery, a movie could really tie it in well. Moreover, it could allow Epic Games to fully unleash the scope of the events they create in-game.

Fans go wild at the possibility of a Fortnite movie

As soon as news of Leterrier’s ideas went on Twitter, fans erupted at the chance of Fortnite being adapted into a movie. One fan could barely contain themselves, expressing through their words it was what Fortnite culminated into. They also promised to be there when the movie was released when its made.

Other fans simply reveled in the scope of how massive a Fortnite movie could be. Ever since Epic Games brought multiple franchises into its game such as Spider-Man, Optimus Prime, Goku, and many more, the game became a hub for a lot of popular characters. If a movie is indeed created, it might see an influx of all these characters coming together, though getting the necessary rights might be a nightmare.

While a lot of fans gushed over the prospect of seeing Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as The Foundation, one fan had their mind set somewhere else. To this fan, the movie only matters if it means Dominic Toretto and his Dodge Charger come into Fortnite. It would be a fun idea to see Fortnite.

The adaptation of Fortnite on the cinema screen would certainly be a massive venture. Could Leterrier be the right person to bring to life an entire game in the form of a movie? His work with Fast X proves he knows how to work with action movies. A Fortnite adaptation could be on the cards soon.
