Thomas “Sykkuno” has become a well-known name in the streaming community. It is hard to believe that he is such a famous streamer, as he only started streaming in 2019. He rose to popularity because of his Among Us livestreams. Also, his heartwarming personality played a huge role in becoming a fan favorite. When someone is as successful as Sykkuno, they tend to be asked one question; why they chose to be a streamer? This wholesome streamer too faced such questions during his latest Japan trip.
Sykkuno became a streamer in search of friends
A few weeks ago, Sykkuno went to Japan for presenting the “Anime of the Year” at the Crunchyroll Anime Awards 2023 with his roommate Valkyrae. While in Japan, Sykkuno attended Trash Taste, a podcast by Japan-based YouTubers Gigguk & The Anime Man. In the podcast, the 31-year-old American streamer was asked about his reasons for picking up streaming.

The Among Us streamer claimed it was to escape loneliness and make new friends.“I started streaming because I watched a lot of streams. Because it just felt like you had someone that was talking to you when you came home. Because it was like the school, I would talk to classmates, but it was not like we were friends that would hang out,” said Sykkuno.
“Then you’d come home, and there’s just no one to talk to, completely quiet, kind of weird.” The streamer continued, “So I leave streams on in the background to just have some noise of someone talking. Then I started streaming to kind of do the reverse, and I was like maybe I’ll make some friends.”
