Stardew Valley is a great game and is in a good state for now. The indie project released more than five years ago, in 2016, and is still popular among its users. However, it now seems unlikely that it will keep getting continuous nourishment, in terms of updates, from the developing team.
Stardew Valley creator Eric ‘ConcernedApe’ Barone recently revealed the future scope of the beloved title. While sharing his thoughts on the game, he mentioned that there are currently “no plans” for any more updates.

Is Stardew Valley done with its run?
While Eric did say that there are no concrete possibilities for future updates yet, he didn’t rule the chances out completely. The developers may keep supporting the title for some years to come simply because it’s one of the popular indie titles at the moment. This is what the creator exactly said about the future state of Stardew Valley:
“I have no plans either way. I don’t want to make any promises for more updates, and I also don’t want to say definitively that it’s finished. I think the game is in a very good place as it is, so I don’t think it’s necessary to add more to it. But at the same time, there’s always room for improvement.”
Talking about the patches, Stardew Valley had its last major update almost a year ago in February 2021. After that, the game mostly kept having smaller changes here and there, but no actual additions to the story or gameplay.

Speaking of the creator, Eric Barone who’s also known as ConcernedApe, he is currently focusing on a fresh project, titled Haunted Chocolatier. So that’s another reason why he didn’t commit to updating Stardew Valley in the future.
Stardew Valley is now available for Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Android.
