Through the episodes of Season 1 of The Last of Us, Ellie was held hostage by David. The Season finale saw Ellie finally being able to break free from captivity and make sure David gets what he deserved. After Ellie gets the upper hand, she took an ax and made sure David doesn’t live to see another day. However, viewers were a little taken aback to have the feeling that maybe Ellie was enjoying herself, maybe just a little when dealing with retribution.

In a Twitter post, Bella Ramsay highlights that Ellie hit David 28 times before stopping. Ramsay is of the opinion that Ellie is actually violent at heart: something David also mentioned while Ellie was still under his subjugation.

Experiences will change Ellie?

In the tweet, Ramsay writes “…she kept going and she enjoyed it. That’s what scared her.” She thinks that Ellie didn’t put up a fight when David called her heart violent because deep down even she knows that to be true. Even though Ramsay believes that Ellie’s final act to David was a catharsis, she thinks that such a profound experience is likely to bring some distinct changes in Ellie in the upcoming Season 2.

The tweet suggested that the pain and suffering Ellie had to go through were true ordeals for anyone, and her showing no mercy to David was like a release to all that. “What scares her the most isn’t what David did to her; it’s what she, in the end, did to him.“, Ramsay further included in the tweet. She said that having a such significant experience in life is bound to change something in a person. Ramsay adds “There’s a shift in her that will inform seasons to come”.
