COD is one of the most revered and respected gaming franchises in the world. Thus it has an incredible and robust fanbase. People like the golfing pro, Jon Rahm have taken eSports, (COD to be specific) as their means of entertainment.

But there is a very interesting factor that ties Rahm with Call of Duty. He was always an avid fan of OpTic Chicago. The star always tried to watch the matches that the team played. Though the team is disbanded at the moment, and currently is known under the Texas banner, it can be said that they had something to do with Rahm’s US Open run two years ago.

In an interview that he gave regarding his US Open title win, Rahm talked about a rather interesting incident. That is, before his monumental match, he stated that he woke up excited because he could watch a Call of Duty match that featured OpTic Chicago.

He watched the tournament that featured his favorite eSports team right before he went on to win one of the biggest titles in his golfing career. He furthermore followed his passion for eSports and is currently an investor in Boston Breach, a CDL team.

The team that he adored two years back was disbanded and was formed into a new one with the same first name. OpTic Texas was competing in the Major IV Qualifiers today, and they, too, won their matches the same day Rahm won the Masters. OpTic Texas won 3-1 against LA Thieves.

This coincidence is too good to be true and thus it makes this moment even more special. Maybe the golfing icon watched yet another OpTic match before he got on the field. Both ways, Rahm emerged victorious in his recent run as well.
