Eiji Aonuma, the legendary producer of The Legend of Zelda series, took the stage recently to give fans the first-ever look at the gameplay of Tears of the Kingdom. This showcase was full of exciting discoveries and mind-blowing revelations.
From an experimental crafting system without bounds to surprising new abilities that solved the problems of the previous games, it had everything. And Nintendo even revealed the new Zelda Edition Nintendo Switch OLED as well as a controller.
Amongst all these things, some fans noticed something very curious, and no, it wasn’t a classic monster hiding in plain sight; it was something else altogether.

Nintendo has named an ability in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom after one of their classic products
Eiji Aonuma started this presentation by getting to one of those Sky Islands using one of the new abilities, called Recall. Then he fought a bunch of enemies using makeshift weapons that he made using another new ability called fuse.
Eventually, he reaches a point where he is facing a huge body of water. Instead of crossing it by just swimming, he decides to build himself a watercraft. Using a bunch of tree logs, a couple of newly introduced battery-powered fans, and another new ability called Ultrahand, he builds that boat.
This ability can also be used to build a bunch of new machinery and vehicles. Those flying machines and vehicles seen in the trailers were built using this ability. Aonuma even said that one’s imagination is the limit to this ability.

One thing that fans surely missed is that Ultrahand is a name that belongs to another one of Nintendo’s products. Long ago, when Nintendo was just a toy brand, they used to sell a toy called Ultrahand. With over one million units sold, the toy became one of Nintendo’s biggest successes. So, it makes sense for them to dedicate this new ability to that toy.
Other than this name, Nintendo has also added some little things to this upcoming game. From the looks of it, players would be able to use the directional buttons to access Link’s item menu. Although they did not specifically mention it, this new addition was pretty evident in the gameplay.
