Eiji Aonuma recently received the “Most Anticipated Game” title for Tears of the Kingdom at the latest Famitsu Game Awards. After taking the award, he revealed some updates about the upcoming Zelda game, which is set to hit the shelves on May 12. Despite the nearing release date, Nintendo is still holding the game close to its chest. But finally, Aonuma shared something related to the game.

The 60-year-old game producer revealed that with Breath of the Wild, they wanted fans to experience the freedom of going wherever they want to across the Hyrule kingdom. But with Tears of the Kingdom, Nintendo wants to introduce some drastic changes that will offer brand-new gameplay to the fans.

In the trailers, we already saw Link do some new features like passing through objects and flying castles. There are rumors of flying being a significant part of the upcoming Zelda game.

The game’s producer also underlined the importance of the player’s free imagination in Tears of the Kingdom, which might be a clue to the speculated crafting system. But this isn’t the only new feature that fans will get to enjoy. We know from the previews for the upcoming Legend of Zelda game that it will have vehicle mechanics. But there are also speculations about players being able to craft custom weapons.

Aonuma also revealed that the upcoming Legend of Zelda game will surprise players with a new voyage across Hyrule. The trailers showcased the Hyrule castle flying because of Malice. This black and magenta substance might have a more aggressive role in Tears of the Kingdom, which might also affect Hyrule’s geography.
