This season finale would be directed by Iranian filmmaker Ali Abbasi who also directed Episode 8 besides Neil Druckmann and Craig Mazin. The previous episode was during snowy winter, but the season finale would be settled during Spring.

As for the content in Episode 9, Joel and Ellie will reach Salt Lake City. There they will come across Marlene and The Fireflies once again. It will follow the last arc of the game, so fans will get to see the giraffe and full hospital scenes. This season finale will also include Marlene and Anna’s backstory with Ashley Johnson playing the role of Anna. Fans will also get to see Ellie’s birth backstory.
