Fan favorite video game franchise, The Last of Us, became an equally popular series at HBO Originals. Starring Pedro Pascal, The Last of Us series received much appreciation from fans. Fans said that it kept its survival-horror theme intact, much like the narrative of the video game. After the debut season, fans were excited about having a sequel to The Last of Us on HBO. 

Writer Craig Mazin earlier hinted that he started writing for season 2. However, there were not many details revealed to the fans. Now Mazin hinted that The Last of Us season 2 will probably have a star-studded cast with someone popular featuring Abby’s role.

Craig Mazin’s The Last of Us season 1 was based on Neil Druckmann’s zombie survival adventure video game with the same name. Mazin earlier famous for his show Chernobyl, received twenty-four Emmy nominations for The Last of Us. However, this time Mazin confirmed that season 2 will expand more. If it continues to follow the video game narrative, we will certainly come across Abby. Abby of the most badass characters of The Last of Us franchise. Abby’s character was portrayed through voice actor Laura Bailey, who received huge praise from fans to bring a tough, soldier-like cold-hearted and revengeful attitude to the character. Now Mazin teased his fans, saying that he most likely decided on the actor, who will feature Abby in season 2. 

Craig Mazin’s interview confirmed that this brilliant writer long planned about Abby and it was the first character they wanted to settle down with. Although no names were directly mentioned, Mazin spoke about the team’s history of choosing great actors for the series. Even fans appreciated Pedro Pascal’s marvelous acting as Joel in season 1. Bella Ramsey, as Ellie, was equally breath-taking on the screen.

Mazin on his favorite part from The Last of Us 1

Although Craig Mazin felt proud of his entire The Last of Us season 1, he still chose to speak about one scene. This scene from season 1 held a special moment in his heart. This scene featured Joel and Ellie talking, where Ellie asked Joel about the scar on his forehead. Here, when Joel told her the story, she replied that time will heal all the scars. The scene doesn’t end here. At last, Joel again replied to Ellie saying that time didn’t give him the scar in the first place. Mazin talked about the simplicity of this scene and the connections between the characters, which truly made him proud. He also shared how the director contracted Covid and he ended up shooting the scene.
