The Last of Us season 1 was, without a doubt, a phenomenon. Based on the 2013 masterpiece by Naughty Dog studios, the HBO television show has managed to win the hearts of critics, as well as fans. Seeing the success of the initial installment, the production studio has already green-lit a season 2.

While the first season was based on the first game in the gaming franchise, the second season is expected to follow the Part II of the saga. Unlike season 1, the next segment of the story will be divided into several seasons. Minutely going through the details and nuances of the new characters and stakes. 

The second season is most likely to be shot in Vancouver, Canada. Geographically, the place acts as the perfect replacement for the in-game Seattle. Even the climate and overall ambiance of the country could be beneficial for the shoot. The previous season also shot many of its scenes in Canada.

The main lead, Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey will be returning for the second season. According to a report, “Bella Ramsey and Pedro Pascal both expect filming to start in later 2023!”, which means a late 2024 or early 2025 release could be expected unless there is a shift in the schedule of the production.

Casting for the new characters has already begun. Abby, being an indispensable aspect of the next part of the story, holds a lot of pressure on the casting team. However, fans have already suggested their picks for the character on social media. There haven’t been any official statements about the character’s cast so far.

Season 2 is currently in production. Both showrunners, Craig Mazin and Neil Druckman will be returning as the production heads. Previously Mazin had told, “I think we will be a little more efficient in our process, which means we’ll have more time to do some more complicated things.” teasing that fans could expect a lot more complicated things to come out from the new season.
