Recently a massive leak broke out online, claiming that PlayStation studio Naughty Dog is working on The Last of Us Part III. Yes, there were rumors floating around since the launch of 2020’s second entry. And the latest leak has now started a hype train. The Last of Us Part III: Will Ellie take on Abby again?
Talking about the ending of The Last of Us Part II, from two years ago, then it is evident that Joel won’t make a return whatsoever. However, his death was the cause of Ellie going to extreme lengths to take brutal revenge on Abby. Her intensity of chasing Abby to eventually kill her, no matter what was highlighted very well.
However, the tone of TLOU 2 was such that it also ended up dividing the community over the treatment given to the characters and their arcs. One can say that it was a very controversial installment in the PlayStation series. Now coming back to the rumored The Last of Us Part III, makers need to change a few things in order to appease those who were upset.

But one thing is certain: Ellie will remain as the primary protagonist whenever The Last of Us Part III is revealed. Keeping her in focus, the makers may still come up with the main plot featuring Ms. Williams and Abby. It can be done by showing up the overall arc between the two coming full circle, eventually.

They both struggled with their personal losses in TLOU 2. But how could the two end up getting their salvation in the third installment? Director Neil Druckmann can do that by making Abby continue her father’s legacy, of making the vaccine. And since Ellie carries the antibody herself, the story can show her finishing what Joel started initially.
In the grand scheme of things, one can say that this kind of plot will complete the theme that was present across the second game. The characters wanted love, but then they went through a revengeful journey against each other. Now it’s time for them to get redemption.
