While big-budget games are a fond culmination of studios’ dreams, the games are also what makes a studio popular. Numerous devs carved unique niches for themselves thanks to some incredible games. Naughty Dog is one such high-stakes studio responsible for critically acclaimed titles such as The Last of Us II and Uncharted 4: A Theif’s End.

While these titles define Naughty Dog, the studio is scheduled to undergo titular changes to mark the end of an era. Industry veteran Christian Gyrling, the studio’s Head of Technology is set to depart the company after nearly two decades. The folks at Naughty Dog are understandably having an emotional time at the moment.

Naughty Dog updates fans on internal changes

The studio took to X, formerly Twitter, to announce that one of its longest-serving team members is set to depart the company after 17 years of association with the studio. The devs shared an emotional message with the community on November 10th to announce the news and also to reveal the person who will step up to fill the shoes of Gyrling in the coming days.

The devs thanked Gyrling in the post for his significant contributions to the games, the studio, and the lives of the people who worked there with Gyrling for a long time. Naughty Dog exclaimed that the veteran member of the team would be missed but the team hoped that Gyrling would succeed in his new ventures.

It was also revealed in the post that Travis McIntosh, a long-time Naughty Dog employee will be the successor to Gyrling as the Head of Technology. McIntosh has been a part of the studio for 19 years and is the rightful candidate for the position.

Those who make the games popular with the fans

Like the games, the people who design and contribute to the design process are equally important to the community. Hence, their departure can always be heartbreaking for the fans who fell in love with gaming after spending hundreds of hours on their favorite titles. Legendary Mario voice actor Charles Martinet also left his mantle recently and Nintendo had to assure fans that the parting of ways would not see the franchise suffer in the future.

Yuka Kitamura, FromSoftware‘s legendary composer known for her works in Elden Ring and Sekiro also left the studio after years of association. The news left fans of the franchises devastated and they couldn’t stop thanking her for the seminal work that will remain in the history books forever. Now, as Naughty Dog undergoes similar changes, fans wait to see how Naughty Dog adapts to the future with its next title.
