Easter eggs are always a fun catch for the die-hard fans out there. No matter how small or subtle the reference is, it always is a matter of discussion amongst the fanatics. The same can be said here as the LOU fans have never left an opportunity to dig out such references if it is missed by their naked eye. While we won’t be taking the whole series into consideration, here are the top five easter eggs found in the latest episode of the series

5. The rabbit survives

One of the most iconic moments of the original games was the moment when Ellie hunted her first rabbit. Many can also remember this scene as it was one that generated all kinds of emotions from the players as well as streamers. It showed how ruthless this world is and to survive, one has to close their heart to sustain themselves.

Well, the good news here is, the rabbit survived! Unlike the game, in the episode, Ellie kills a deer after missing out on hunting a rabbit. The creators must have considered the emotion the players went through earlier and considered this change. But what about the deer?

4. Ellie Dialogue

Dialogues are something that literally molds games, along with many other factors. A perfectly delivered statement can have a lasting impact on anyone who plays it. The Last of Us is one such example that highly relies on it, and one instance can be seen in the latest episode.

In the latest episode when Ellie met David, she said, “any sudden movement, and I put one right between your eyes. Ditto for Buddy boy over there.” If you have played the games at least once, then this quote may have been very recognizable for you, as it is verbatim in the game.

3. When we are in need, he shall provide

We are well versed in how devoted of a person David is when it comes to belief. He led his community with this belief, although his actions never implied the slightest to them. Every room would have some references that pointed to this belief as well.

One such thing was the quote ‘When we are in need, he shall provide’ written on a white sheet and hung from the ceiling. In the game, when Ellie faced David in a climactic boss fight, this banner was also present in the background. It is a very missable detail but still an amazing touch to the immersion.

2. The Boss fight

Speaking about the boss fight, the encounter between David and Ellie plays out almost the same as in the game. Even the minor details, like Ellie sneaking around the building, hiding, and waiting around for the perfect opportunity to strike at David, were almost like it was copy pasted from the game’s fight. And adding the cherry on top of this scene was the glorious display of emotions from Bella Ramsey.

1. Abby

The eighth episode of the series had a connection with the sixth. Remember the man who Joel kills during their encounter at the Fireflies lab subsequently injuring himself? Well, that person had a daughter and we can see her in the latest episode. She is living alone in the community, grieving for her father.

While this might be a normal occurrence in the series, suggesting that everyone that died (dies) has a family, the game fans could not stop from thinking more. The fans believe that the entire story that they showcased in the series may have been foreshadowing Abby. The antagonist’s character plot is extremely similar to this as her motive to do what she does arises from the death of her father, which will be dived into possibly in the final episode.
