Battlefield 2042 was a title that generated immense hype during its reveal. The actual reveal, however, told a different story; the title, upon release, was a mess and the game is quite frankly, lacking. This is in terms of all aspects of the latest iteration of the iconic shooter franchise. While the graphics and textures look decent in next-gen titles, it is a nightmare to render assets in the PS4 and Xbox One.
The gameplay has taken a drastic shift from the one which the player base fell in love with. Playing the title feels stale. The tone of the title is completely off and does not reflect the post-apocalyptic world fans were looking forward to. Apart from being riddled with glitches and bugs, perhaps the biggest travesty is the sheer lack of features in the title. Forget the innovation, Battlefield 2042 seems to have gone ten steps backward with the absence of the most basic features in the game. This includes VoIP, and a functioning scoreboard amongst others. DICE has guaranteed that they will fix these issues and Battlefield 2042 will eventually be right back on track.

Fans unhappy with update regarding Battlefield 2042
It seems like the developers have communicated with the fanbase and shared some news regarding the game’s status. This was shared by Tom Henderson, a prominent individual affiliated with the gaming industry. It seems like the developers will finally be providing the basic features missing in the title at launch. On the flip side, however, the game will be delaying its first of four seasons that would be available as free DLCs. Season 1 of Battlefield 2042 has been delayed all the way up until March.
Needless to say, fans are not too happy.

This has to be the worst post-launch support I've ever seen for a live service shooter.
Talk about fumbling the bag.

All to grab a bunch of CoD fans who where angry at Vanguard being WW2. Well all they did was just play MW 2019 & BOCW w/ WZ.

This game needs the Anthem treatment. I'd rather the resources go into a good BF game than try and save this train wreck of a game. BF as a series will recover just like BF4 but they won't do that with 2042. Scrap it. Start again and listen to the players.

Me when they should’ve just delayed the game until may or June and this wouldn’t have been a problem

Surely they have to offer refunds right? People payed for a specific release window and its been pushed back far, the games unplayable for a ton due to optimization aswell. I don’t understand

They shouldve just made the specialists abilities just that. Abilities. Which you can equip and change in your loadout. Not make them character specific. For example let the medic class have the medi-gun and the assault class the grapple. They couldve done that with classes but no

Game companies need to stop relying on patches and updates and focus on releasing a fully functioning game upon release- you know, like the good ol’days.

All other issues aside, I can’t imagine launching a AAA online multiplayer team based shooter without voice chat. That’s really the biggest red flag of this game.

All in all, it seems like the game is dead before the season has even left the ground. The sheer lack of content and features that were in previous titles seems to have left players shocked. Adding on, even when players complained about the presence of specialists, something that turned the title essentially into a hero shooter, DICE doubled down. It seems like Battlefield 2042 has to reap what it sowed.
