After several speculations of delays and setbacks, 343 Industries finally announced the release date for Halo Infinite at Gamescom 2021. Scheduled for release on 8th December 2021, slight setbacks are emerging before the release.

Many might have been wondering about the missing Halo Infinite campaign trailer from the Gamescom showcase or about any news regarding it. Luckily, this has been clarified by 343’s Joseph Staten, who used information from the “Inside Infinite” blog about a “full Shut Down” mode for the devs. The rationale behind this step is for the devs to polish the game further.

343’s plans ahead of Halo Infinite launch

According to Staten, the devs are currently focusing on fixing high-priority bugs, verifying fixes, and further polishing the features for both campaign and multiplayer modes. They want to make sure that the game launches smoothly by December 8th. Staten says the following, elaborating on the topic.

“In many ways, shutting down a game is like being on final approach to landing an airplane. And if you’ll forgive a bit of aviation-geekery, the entirety of the team is essential in a “sterile cockpit,” which is to say: we’re at a critical phase in the flight that is Halo Infinite, so it’s extremely important to avoid distractions and stay focused on mission-critical tasks only. For Campaign, that means putting maximum effort into ensuring the wide-open, adventure-filled experience you’ll all get to play on December 8th is as great as it can possibly be. And gameplay demos and trailers not only take a huge amount of effort to do well, but they also take cycles away from bugs and other shutdown tasks.”

Halo Infinite will have at least one more flight before launch, with 343 promising PvP battles and an emphasis on Big Team Battle Mode. Head to this website to sign up for a chance to be included in the next flight.
