Chief designer of Bayonetta 3 Hideki Kamiya expressed his honest thoughts about the gaming juggernaut Nintendo. After the third installment of the series has been released, Hideki gave his insight into Nintendo’s contribution to the game’s development. 

Bayonetta is a series of action-adventure games that was created and directed by Hideki Kamiya and developed by PlatinumGames. The franchise was introduced in 2009 with Bayonetta. So far, the series has received two sequels, Bayonetta 2 and Bayonetta 3. The latter being the recent release.

Hideki Kamiya shares his honest thoughts about the Gaming giant Nintendo. In an interview with Famitsu, Hideki expressed his heartfelt emotions about Nintendo and how they contributed toward the development of the latest game.

In the interview, Hideki expressed how thankful he is to Nintendo for stepping in and helping the team “Kick off this project”. He said with a heart full of gratitude that without the help from the gaming company, the new game in the series would have never been made. 

Hideki was “really happy” that he and his team got the opportunity to make a third game for the series. He added that “I’m not exaggerating when I say I’m forever indebted to Nintendo.” He, without any hesitation, expressed his heart about Nintendo. 

Nintendo also returned the gesture. In the same interview, Nintendo producer Makoto Okazaki revealed how a “passionate video message” from Kamiya showed them how serious and passionate about the game he was, which led to them agreeing to fund another installment in the series. 

Kamiya said the support from Nintendo was the “final push that made this game into a reality,” and he will be forever indebted to this gesture of trust and support from the gaming giant. In the same interview, Nintendo producer Makoto Okazaki also mentioned that the passion from Kamiya helped make Bayonetta 3 a reality.

How is the reception of the new game so far? 

Bayonetta 3 is receiving some great reviews all over the board. According to the fans and critics, it is by far the best game in the series. The visuals are fresh and the combat is as smooth as it could be. The game has a very positive score of 88% on Metacritic and it received a 9 out of 10 rating from IGN.
