The Crazy ‘Last of Us’ Execution Spotted by a Fan Is Something You Definitely Missed

The extremely popular The Last of Us, from Naughty Dog, was released quite a while ago. The Last of Us was released in 2013. And its successor, The Last of Us Part II, launched last year in June. Eight years after the original title’s release, loyal fans continue playing the game and finding surprising revelations each time.

Now, one such Last of Us enthusiast has found a never-seen execution in the game. But there’s a twist to it. The rare mechanic executes your character, Joel, instantly, and here’s how you might try to recreate the unique animation.

The Last of Us: a rare “counter”

In a post on the subreddit of the title and the Last of Us Part II, r/thelastofus, user u/Macsilver shared the rare sighting with fellow fans.

In the clip, Joel visibly has low health, possibly “fatal” and decides to take on a Hunter. And to everyone’s surprise, the Hunter reacts before the player lands a blow on his head from behind in what u/Macsilver terms as a “counter,” essentially meaning a counter to Joel’s attack. The Hunter then grabs the head of Joel and smashes it on the pavement-like structure made out of concrete; killing him within seconds.

The community’s response

This special execution probably is a combined effort of the critical health, game difficulty mode, and the timing. As per the Reddit user, Joel was had extremely low health playing in “Survivor” mode that might have increased the chance of the Hunter performing a fatal counter. Or at least that’s what the community thinks.
