“The Actions of This Student Are Absolutely Horrendous and Completely Uncalled For”: Taking Away His Nintendo Switch Made a High Schooler Attack His Teacher

Esports and the gaming industry have a lot to offer to their consumers. From new-gen games to various consoles to play these, you name it; the industry has it. But an unfortunate factor that is constantly associated with gaming is addiction.

These not only tarnish a person’s own image in front of society. But makes one take a step back from the gaming industry in order for the betterment of themselves. One such incident of addiction recently occurred in Florida as a student knocked his teacher out due to an argument over a Nintendo Switch.

A fight over Nintendo Switch

It is not a good day for Matanzas Highschool as one of their students supposedly assaulted a teacher’s aide following a Nintendo Switch confiscation. According to statements, the gaming console being taken away from his possession displeased the student. The 17-year-old Palm Coast boy even threatened to assault her if she takes away his games.

What ensued was captured in the school CCTV cameras as the 6 feet 6-inch tall students rushed towards the school employee, knocking her down. She became unconscious on impact, but the agitated student continued to kick and beat her. He kicked and punched her around 15 times before school authorities came in to pull him away.

When the school resource deputies arrived on the scene, they saw the woman lying on the ground covered in blood. They soon rushed her to the nearby hospital for immediate care. “The actions of this student are absolutely horrendous and completely uncalled for,” stated Rick Staly, Sheriff in charge.

Student detained and currently is under the Department of Juvenile Justice

The statements that followed revealed that the victim is a paraprofessional who has been in the district since 2004. Paraprofessionals are assigned to assist students who have enrolled in the Individualized Education Program (IEP).

The arrested 17-year-old assaulter has been admitted to the Sheriff Perry Hall Detention Center. There the law charged him with a felony of aggravated battery with bodily harm. Later, the Department of Juvenile Justice took over the boy.

Victim’s current medical condition is unknown. This is a frightening incident that is a side effect of being too addicted to a gaming device. Let’s hope that the charged student will undergo treatment for his addiction as well while serving the punishment for assaulting an innocent woman.
