Unfortunate news for all the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X fans. The semiconductor shortage issue that’s been around for a while now can last well into next year or even 2023. This means fans may have to wait over 1-year to get their hands on their dream next-gen console.
This is raising some serious issues among next-gen fans. The pandemic situation around the globe, higher than ever demand, and the shortage are the main reason behind this crisis. Even though the next-gen consoles are launched about a year ago in November 2020, fans are still facing this shortage issue.

Takeshi Kamebuch (director in charge of semiconductor company) said, “The supply of chip remains very tight until at least September next year. In some cases we may find some customers not being fully served until 2023,” reports Bloomberg. To boost the production of the semiconductor by 2024, it is planning to invest approximately $545 million.

Huge Investment for Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 shortage issue
The company is also considering building another factory to rapidly increase the production of next-gen consoles. However, investors are concerned about the decrease in demand for consoles after the pandemic. According to investors, once this whole pandemic situation is over, people will again enjoy their outside lives and this will significantly evaporate the demand.

That is why they feel like this huge investment is unnecessary. In this shortage crisis, Xbox has recently announced a brand new Halo Infinite special edition for the X series and Halo Infinite Series 2 Elite controller, and shockingly, it was sold out within few minutes. As soon as the pre-order went live, both were sold out.
