The e-sports industry has seen a sharp incline over the years as people have chosen gaming as their favorite pastime. This, in turn, has also helped on the commercial side as it has paved the way for Esports organizations and international events. Today, fans attend such events in millions to support their favorite streamers/gamers in high-stakes events.

TeamEnvy was founded in 2007 as a Call Of Duty Team in Dallas, Texas. During the time, the organization focused solely on Call of Duty 4, with Skyler Johnson and Tosh McGruder leading it. As years passed by, fans recognized them far more than COD stars, ultimately giving birth to Envy Gaming. Post that, the organization took part in various titles such as Counter-Strike, League of Legends, Rocket League, and Super Smash bros. Melee and Magic: the Gathering.

But in 2021, the organizationn made a sudden announcement shaking its fans. They announced a merger with OpTic gaming, claiming to operate under one roof for future events. The merger was done to help both parties excel as individuals and support each other at the same time. As time passed by, Envy decided to retire from the business and officially work under the name OpTic.

Envy gaming retired from the e-sports industry after 15 long years. The former Call of Duty clan revealed the news in a recent podcast with owner Mike Rufail in conversation with OpTic’s CEO. Hector Rodriguez. Fans saw the duo featured in a video podcast, where they spoke about the company’s future.

Mark said.It’s still somewhat surreal. Organisations are going to have to attract more eyeballs and operate a business that can scale. We’re strengthening the future of what esports will be ten years from now with the decisions we are making today. For us, this deal means we can accomplish our goals faster. Life is too short not to do this.’

Apart from that, the duo also spoke about video games where Mike was pressured toward CS GO, claiming that they had a massive interest to get back in the game.
