It's been a decade since the previous game released. And yet after Rockstar Games recently announced the upcoming trailer, the announcement post became the most liked gaming tweet ever. So keeping in mind the love for GTA, let's look at everything that's known about the game as of now.

There were plenty of rumors surrounding the launch window of GTA 6. While some claim it will be a year from now, a few projected the game to hit the markets in months. While all these rumors lacked credible backing, Rockstar Games had kept the progress under the sheets. Until this month! 

The world was finally given a chance to celebrate when the developers made<a href="https://www.essentiallysports.com/esports-news-gta-6-announcement-confirmed-by-rockstar-games-for-early-december/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> the first official announcement for the trailer</a>. “We are very excited to let you know that in early December, we will release the first trailer for the next Grand Theft Auto. We look forward to many more years of sharing these experiences with all of you,” they wrote in a tweet. Interestingly, the tweet came just hours after some leaks had suggested an imminent trailer announcement. 

If all such leaks are to be trusted, then the game can release sometime in mid-late 2024-2025. The exact window is claimed to be between April 2024 to March 2025. 

During a recent fiscal call of Take-Two Interactive, the company talking about its future analytical projections <a href="https://www.essentiallysports.com/esports-news-it-appears-gta-six-launch-date-has-already-been-set-by-take-two-and-rockstar-games/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">confirmed the theory</a>. “We remain confident that we are positioning our business for a significant inflection point in fiscal 2025, which we believe will include new record levels of operating performance,” said Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick

Rockstar Games had the first official confirmation of the development of GTA 6 through a GTA 5 community update back in February 2022. The confirmation just involved a subtle tease of the development saying, “active development for the next entry in the Grand Theft Auto series is well underway.”

However, in terms of official confirmation of the project's progress, not much is known. In fact, most of the credible updates that the fans have been subjected to for the sixth installment have rather arrived from the parent company Take-Two Interactive and its fiscal data. In August 2022, Take-Two Interactive reassured the fans with a thumbs up on the progress of the game during a monthly fiscal report. But it was September 2022 that spoiled the party for the developers and for most of the gaming fans. 

The story of the biggest gaming leak 

On September 18, 2022, dozens of videos and screenshots from an alleged in-development build of Grand Theft Auto 6 went viral online in an unprecedented leak. It’s still considered as the biggest leak for any gaming title in history. The credibility of the leaks was confirmed by the developers themselves, as they had expressed their disappointment with the series of leaks. Following this big event in the development, a lot of gaming pundits predicted some long delays in the planned schedule of GTA 6. However, Rockstar Games debunked the speculations reaffirming to the fans that the project would go as planned.

According to the rumors and specialties that were deduced by the big leak of September, there are a lot of new innovations that might appeal to a GTA fan.

In a leaked video, the two were shown robbing a restaurant together, with the player controlling one character while the AI controlled the other. Another video shows character changing, but this time it happens very instantly instead of slowly as in Grand Theft Auto 5.
