So, in today’s article, we shall talk about Red Dead Redemption 2, as we have some crucial information to share with our readers. The information comes straight from various video game journalists who say that Rockstar had plans to release Red Dead Redemption 2 for Switch.

Video game journalists claim that Red Dead Redemption II was supposed to release on Switch!

On August 13, 2021, Axios gaming writer Stephen Totilo posted a tweet talking about Red Dead Redemption. He said, “FWIW, also said then that RDR2 was being made for Switch & “Switch Pro.” Still waiting!”

Stephen revealed that a Rockstar informant had claimed that the franchise was aiming toward a Switch release. There weren’t any official announcements from the franchise, ultimately dissolving the topic.

Now, after a year, some new information has swirled around the internet proving that Rockstar had plans for a Switch release. Twitter user Ben revealed this information as his picture clearly showed a Switch port.

Here’s what he said in the caption. Interestingly, the tweet was inspired by Totilo’s last year’s statement talking about RDR2. It read, “This Tweet from @stephentotilo is a little interesting. According to his source at Rockstar, at a point, there was a Switch port in development for Red Dead Redemption 2. Funny enough, the Switch (its codename “nx64″) is fully supported in RAGE, per the PC RDR2 executable.”

In 2019, gamers had found hidden files pointing towards a Switch release. This, in turn, had raised a question of whether Rockstar had originally planned Red Dead Redemption 2 for Switch. Fans had also posted about the same, showcasing pictures of a Nintendo Switch controller found in the textures.

Rockstar had released RDR2 for PC during the time, making fans speculate about a further release. But there were several factors involved proving that the game would never release on Switch screens. First, Steam didn’t support Switch controllers, making it difficult for console lovers to enjoy their game at ease.

Second, the game had very high graphics, something that the Nintendo product could not withstand. In conclusion, we feel that Switch fans will need to shift to better consoles if they want to enjoy Arthur and his journey to the fullest.
