Nintendo’s Mario is one of the popular video game characters because of his high-pitched voice and Italian accent. Charles Martinet, the original voice of Mario in the games has given his best to establish the character of Mario to the fans. Martinet’s voice has been appreciated by the fans so much that recently when Chris Patt was announced to give voice to Mario in The Super Mario Bros. movie, there was significant backlash from the fans.

With many new Mario-related projects like Super Mario Bros. Wonder due soon, fans are now speculating whether Charles Martinet will be replaced in them as well.

Martinet’s wish on giving voice to upcoming Mario projects

The speculation of Charles Martinet’s replacement deeply saddened the fans. It started after the release of the Super Mario Bros. Wonder’s trailer. Martinet has spoken to the fans at length about his love for the character and his wish to continue the act of giving voice to him.

After the release of the trailer fans are divided as some believe that in the upcoming Mario project, Martinet has been replaced by Nintendo. However, many of the gamers used different voice clips from different Mario games to show that maybe Nintendo had asked Martinet to record new samples of his voice for Mario.

Martinet’s replacement and the speculation about it drew more public attention to the upcoming Super Mario Bros. Wonder. But, neither Nintendo nor Martinet have given any official announcement regarding the matter. Even if Nintendo has replaced Martinet, the difference will be very subtle for fans to understand. Many of the fans are referring to Nintendo’s latest Wario Ware: Move It trailer where the team replaced Wario’s voice. However, it seemed apparent that fans are going to be very disappointed if Martinet is replaced in the upcoming video game since his voice is essential for players to associate with the character of Mario.

Martinet added a fun element to the character that triggers the nostalgic moments of the fans. Looking at this, the dissatisfaction of the fans with the matter seemed pretty evident.
