The cast of this upcoming animated movie recently visited the sets of The Kelly Clarkson Show. During the interview, the host asked them how they came up with the voices of their characters, and they had some tidbits to share.

Charlie Day, the star of ‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’, who voices Luigi, simply went ahead and said, “I have a very hard time not sounding like a cartoon character, so it just comes out weird.”

The Voice of Mario Chris Pratt went ahead and first praised Mario’s original voice actor, Charles Martinet, and then talked about how games hardly put Mario forward as a character. He said, “the character of Mario is kind of whoever’s playing the game,” and he then went ahead and explained that his voice for Mario just came with the process of understanding the character himself.

Jack Black, who plays the character of Bowser, which is the most awaited character in the movie by the fans, explained how he was very excited about this character. He explained that “In a way, Bowser is the secret spice of the movie; he’s like the Darth Vader of this universe, and that was fun to play.”

The voice behind Toad, Keegan-Michael Key, talked about coming up with his voice for the character while brainstorming with his partner. He said, “Eventually I got to a place where I literally thought to myself, ‘Can I just act? Can I just act like I’m going on a helium balloon and starting the session?'”
